After a few years in this position, Major Griffin sadly lost his leg after being caught up in an explosion on the battlefield.
However, he did not let this stop him from being the hero that he had always wanted to be - instead, he decided to use his skills to his advantage and join the superhero league! Now, Major Griffin saves people and fights villains using his impressive combat skills, wearing his Army uniform along the way to remind him of where he came from.

Captain America
Major Griffin stands out from many superheroes, who can unfortunately contribute to inequality. For example, scroll down to read more about Captain America...
Captain America/ Steve Rogers is played by Chris Evans.
All 3 Captain America films were directed by men. Therefore, they show something called the ‘male gaze’. This is a way of portraying women that empowers men and sexualises women.
Also, all 3 movies were made in the first 3 phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This means that Captain America had 3 films before Black Widow had her first movie.
Steve Rogers has blonde hair and blue eyes, which is a stereotype of what American people look like. When actually, Americans all have unique differences in their appearance.
In the first Captain America film, Steve Rogers becomes a superhero by taking a super serum. Therefore, Steve goes from being small and ‘weak’ to tall, muscular and having the ‘perfect’ body type. This serum takes away all his ‘imperfections’, including his asthma. These are not really imperfections and are actually very normal. However, Steve Rogers remains loyal and a do-gooder, protecting everyone.
Chris Evans comes from a privileged background. He is a child of divorce and his father is a dentist. This ensured that it was possible for him to attend acting classes and participate in school plays. Evans also had connections to the movie industry as his mother was a professional tap dancer and an artistic director at Concord Youth Theatre. Having someone to help guide him in the industry would have made it easier for him to become successful.
